Bryson City, North Carolina
We packed up the car, the pup and way too many snacks and headed for the Smoky Mountains. Home for the trip was Cabin on a Creek by Yellow Rose, and honestly, it’s one of the coolest places we’ve ever stayed.

Tucked away in the woods
Up a quiet gravel drive sits the sweetest log cabin, right on a flowing creek. Warm wood everywhere, a wagon wheel chandelier, a loft up top, a fireplace and a kitchen with everything we needed.

Life on the creek
The creek was our favorite part. We listened to it from the porch, waded right in with our son and sat on the little deck by the water. One day it poured rain and the water came rushing by, and we stayed snug and dry inside.

Slow mornings, cozy nights
Breakfast on the porch, rocking chair cuddles, the hot tub at night and a little movie time before bed. That’s the whole vibe.

Exploring Bryson City
Downtown is small, walkable and so charming. We grabbed ice cream at BoxCar Café & Cones, watched the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad trains and checked out the model trains.

Waterfalls and the Smokies
There’s hiking right from the cabin, and we climbed all the way up the mountain for a beautiful view. We also spent time in Great Smoky Mountains National Park along the Oconaluftee River, then drove over to Cherokee to see Mingo Falls. Our dog got to come along too.

“Bryson City has the most amazing attractions, but staying at this cabin gives you privacy, and that’s what makes it so special.”
Why you should go
- The Smokies are right there. Bryson City sits at the edge of Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
- Small-town charm. Trains, shops and ice cream in a cute, walkable downtown.
- Waterfalls nearby. Mingo Falls in Cherokee is about 120 feet tall, up a short but steep staircase.
- Bring the pup. Dogs are only allowed on two trails in the national park, and the Oconaluftee River Trail is one of them. Keep them on a leash.
- Cabin privacy. After busy days out, it’s so peaceful to come home to the woods.
